Agreed, this is like sending out a net and hoping something you want to catch will be caught, when you could actually target who you want to. Saves time and money

I'd say the key ingredient is having permission to email these people in the first place.
Part of the problem with Acquisition is people have not asked for the email so they mark it as spam. If you use your own system you get terrible deliverability if you use and ESP they might even kick you out?
The laws are far more lenient for B2B emailing but you can still get caught in spam traps if you buy a dodgy list.
The law is not enough for recipients anymore, spam authorities and ISPs give recipients' complaints more and more power, you really need permission to email someone to be safe.
